Read the article "Data Security" attached to the CS491 web
site, last item in the resources section.  This is a survey and
tutorial article about the data security field in 1979.

Browse the web site of the CERT (cert.org), which is the organization
that monitors attacks in the Internet and sends out warnings and
alerts.  Look particularly at their reports about the most common
kinds of complaints.

Browse the website of Fred Cohen (a well known computer security
expert) at all.net.  See what he thinks are the most important issues
today.

Browse the website of Bruce Schneier, owner of Counterpane, a well
known security consulting company, looking especially at their white
paper, www.counterpane.com/msm.html.  See what he thinks are the most
important issues today.

Write a short report: What were the key issues in 1979?  What are they
today?  Do the experts agree?  Have any old issues become non-issues?
What new issues have come up and why?
