The required textbook for this class is Operating Systems Concepts by Silbershatz, Galvin and Gagne (9th Edition, John Wiley & Sons 2012, ISBN 978-1-118-06333-0). Distributed Systems: Concepts and Design by Coulouris, Dollimore and Kindberg (5th Edition, Addison-Wesley 2012, ISBN 978013214301-1) is recommended.

There will be several programming projects in using the Operating System OS/161. All projects will be programmed using the C language.
Please NOTE
Your grade will be calcuated as follows:
No credit if your project does not compile. Projects are due at the start of class, not during class. Late assignments/projects lose 10% credit per day and will not be accepted 3 days after the due date.
No early exams will be given. If you must miss an exam an makeup will be arranged at the discretion of the instructor, BEFORE the exam date, with a written and verified excuse.
You are expected to abide by the University's honor code and the CS Department's Honor Code and Academic Integrity Policies during the semester, i.e., collaboration between students in different groups on an assignment is unacceptable. Any violation of the honor code will result in referral to the honor council with a recommendation that the student be awarded an F for the class.
