I am launching a new company and need the services of a full-time/part-time/telecommute developer to work on core application (web 2.0 app) of the company. Telecommuting is possible but prefer someone local to attend the project meeting once in a week.
This web-based application will run under ASP (Application Service Provider)/SAAS (Software As A Service) model. Technologies being used are PHP, Postgres database and Apache on Linux/Windows platform. Development of company website will be part of the project. At this time, project is at very early stage. I am doing a database design and defining the framework for this application at this time. Initial phase should take at least 3-4 months of full time effort. It could take longer if it is done on part time basis. Next few phases will also take approximately same amount of time.
Need help in the PHP and Web interface design side. Extensive use of DHTML, CSS, AJAX and Java script will be required for this project. Most of the work will be related to defining interfaces using AJAX, DHTML, CSS, Javascript and PHP. Other technologies being used are Svn, Phing (for build script), PHPUnit for unit testing, Propel ORM framework, Symphony or Zend Framework for development. Although the project is PHP based but can work with someone without PHP as long as person is good in Ajax using any language, and good in UI development.

Primary duties will include: • Under supervision, provide support to the BTA and the Investment Management (IM) directorate on issues related to data and data gathering efforts, the development of data visibility metrics associated with data sources, BCL business processes, requirements traceability, functional sufficiency, and information exchange. • Assist with the discovery of authoritative data sources to support the development and growth of the BCL process. • Participate in the ongoing introduction of data questions, metrics and evaluations into the Defense Acquisition University (DAU) Lab.

Fellowship Opportunities. The Consortium Research Fellows Program invites undergraduate students enrolled in degree-granting programs in information technology or computer science to apply for an immediate Fellowship opportunity. Applicants must be U.S. citizens.
Location. National Defense University (NDU), Informational Resources Management (IRM) College, Ft. McNair, Washington D.C.
Duties. Fellow will research and work with emerging hardware and software in the areas of decision support, speech recognition, geographical information systems, modeling and simulation, the human computer Interface, and robotics. Fellow is expected to support the injection of information technology into academic lessons using commercially available software (PowerPoint, Photoshop, Blackboard). Fellow will learn software that is taught/demonstrated in the academic courses at the IRM College, including Decision Lens, Morae, and SitePal. Fellow may conduct literature searches and assist in writing articles to supplement classroom exercises. Fellow will perform rudimentary tests of commercial hardware and software, solve routine problems, and report more difficult problems to helpdesk. Fellow will work prewritten laboratory exercises and build sufficient knowledge to assist NDU students to complete the same exercises.
Schedules. Each Fellow’s schedule is flexible and is worked out individually between the student and government mentor. Fellows may work up to 20 hours per week during the school year and 40 hours per week in the summer. Fellowship appointments are for a minimum of one year and a maximum of three years.
Qualifications. Ideal applicants will have a strong background in using personal computers, some knowledge of networks and database management systems, and the ability to work independently. Computer programming in C++ is preferred.
Compensation. Fellows are paid an hourly rate based upon educational experience and program of study, ranging between $14.25 and $19.00 per hour. If all hours are worked, Fellows will earn between $18,525 and $24,700 annually.

DUTIES: The International Association of Approved Basketball Officials is seeking a part-time technology assistant to further enhance the use of the Ecourt software package and Motion Tracking/Capture within their educational training programs for high school and college basketball referees. The Technology Assistant will perform two main tasks. He or she will work with the IAABO Executive Director and his administrative assistants in consolidating actual digital footage of basketball games with motion capture demonstrations based on the rules and responsibilities found within the IAABO manual. The assistant will also play an intricate role in selecting and/or designing a data base program that meets the needs of the organization in managing membership files.
QUALIFICATIONS: Interest in enhancing software technology. Ability to handle work with digital video-audio technology, computer-assisted technology, and database management.
