Mounting Servers

You can mount your CS home directory, public_html web directory, and file space on the XServe RAID disk server directly on your PC or laptop.

Macintosh Users

  1. In the Finder, choose Go > Connect to Server...
  2. Enter xserve.vsnet.gmu.edu as the server address and press Connect.
  3. Log in using your GMU account and password.
  4. Choose the volumes you'd like mounted and press OK. Volumes include:
    • public_html directories on the CS server
    • Home directories on the CS server
    • A volume on the XServe RAID for any arbitrary storage (non backed up).
    • A volume on the XServe RAID specifically for backups or your Mac via TimeMachine (note that these backups are in turn not backed up! Getting a bit recursive there).
