Governor's Fellow Program - 11/17/06
Cesar Vance, a 2006 Mason graduate, was named a Governor's Fellow. He worked for the Kaine Administration in Richmond this summer. He will be visiting Mason in February to discuss the program and his experiences. Information on that session will be forthcoming in January. Jack Kent Cooke Graduate Scholarship Information Session - December 5, 2006
Thompson Hall 116, 7-8pm. Maya Johnson, a 2002 Mason graduate and Jack Kent Cooke award recipient, will speak about this Jack Kent Cooke application process and about her graduate school experiences. She is a Ph.D. student in the American Studies program at the College of William and Mary. This generous graduate scholarship program funds up to $50,000 per year for up to 6 years of graduate or professional school for college seniors or alumni applying to graduate/professional programs. Once you have enrolled in a graduate or professional program, you are no longer eligible. There are several major criteria: 1)you must have an outstanding academic record; 2)you and both your parents (if living) must both demonstrate and document significant financial need; 3)You must demonstrate a significant commitment to the arts and humanities, whatever your academic field; 4)You must be applying to a top-ranked program in your discipline.

Columbia University: Presidential Fellowships - 11/9/06
The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science will award the Presidential Fellowship to outstanding incoming Ph.D., Doctor of Engineering Science, and Masters/Ph.D. students. The Fellowships include tuition plus an annual stipend of $35,000 for up to 4 years which includes 3 months of summer research. All applicants for admission to doctoral programs of study will be considered for this outstanding fellowship opportunity to study at one of the premiere Ivy League institutions in the heart of New York City.

American Society for Engineering Education: National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship - 11/9/06
America's Future. Your Research. DoD Support. Fellowships are sponsored by the Army Research Office, the Office of Naval Research, the Air Force Office of Scientific Research, and the High Performance Computing Modernization Program. National Defense Science and Engineering (NDSEG) Fellowships are intended for students at or near the beginning of their graduate studies in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math fields. Fellowships are awarded tot he applicants who intend to pursue a doctoral degree. Stipends starting at $30,500. Full tuition & fees. Health Insurance Allowance. Three-year awards. No military service obligation.

The Hertz Foundation: Graduate Fellowships - 10/6/06
For innovators in the Applied Physical, Biological, and Engineering Sciences. 5 year Hertz (Option 1): $28,000/9 month Personal Stipend, full tuition equivalent, renewable up to 5 years. 5 year coordinated (Option 2): Hertz Period - 2 years, $33,000/9 month Personal Stipend, full tuition equivalent, other fellowship period - up to 3 years, $3000/year Supplemental stipend from Hertz, requires awardee to accept 3 year Fellowship from another source. We are looking for applicants with: exceptional creativity, broad understanding of physical principles, outstanding potential for innovative research. Approximately 20 new Fellowships are awarded each year - Option must be chosen at time of award - Tenable at most major US research universities - Applicants mst be applying for or be presently enrolled in a PhD preofram, and be US Citizens or Permanent Residents - Preference given to seniors and 1st year graduate student.
