Graduation Process
To apply for graduation:
- Whenever you register for classes using 4GMU, you should confirm or declare an "expected graduation date."
- When you reach your final semester (the semester you intend to graduate), you must file an electronic Graduation Intent Form.
- Once you file the Graduation Intent Form, go to the next step on the graduation site and fill out the actual graduation application. Print out a copy of the application.
- The Intent Form and Applications are available via the graduation home page.
- Go to http://webgmu.gmu.edu and print out a copy of your "degree progress" report.
- Once you complete your degree application, you will need to meet with your advisor to review and sign off on it. (If you believe that there are no complications and you have no questions, you may be able to drop off your application for your advisor to review without a scheduled meeting. You should first email your advisor to determine if this plan is acceptable, or if your advisor would prefer a meeting.)
- Bring your reviewed and signed graduation application to the CS department office (S&T II, Room 430), and give it to one of the office staff for processing.
- Be careful to plan ahead to meet the graduation filing deadlines.
- Filing deadlines for each semester are generally at the end of the fifth week of classes for that semester. August graduates follow the deadlines for the previous May graduation.
