What are the changes in the structure of the Dissertation Committee?
There are no changes per se in the structure of the Dissertation Committee. University rules require that each committee transcend one department. Since the CS and ISE departments will merge into one department effective January 2008, any committee will be required to have at least one faculty member from outside the merged CS department. Thus, any new dissertation committees formed after Fall 2007 should include at least one member from a department other than the current CS and ISE departments.
