If you did not enter GMU as a CS major, you must apply in order to be accepted into the department.

To qualify, you must fulfill both of the following:

  • Overall GPA of at least 2.75
  • Successful completion of any two of these courses: CS 112, CS 211, MATH 113, MATH 114, MATH 125

If you qualify, you can complete a change/declaration of major form, and a Request to Transfer to CS Major Form, obtainable at the CS department office. Bring a copy of your transcript to the new department as well. Once your advisors from the new and old department approve and sign this form (in that particular order), you need to take it to the registrar's office. If you are currently enrolled in your first semester at GMU, you must wait until you receive your first semester of grades before you will be considered for the Computer Science department.
