CS 103 Instructions for Emailing Assignments
For all the units after the Introduction to Windows 98, you will be emailing the file that you have completed at the end of the unit. For all subsequent units, you will be emailing the files as indicated below. You may use any method to email your work, however, we will expect all students to know how to ftp and email files using pine during lab exams, so be sure to practice this if you normally email your work another way. Also, if there are any question on verifying that you sent the assignment in for grading at the appriopriate time, you will need to have the file in your mason account and you will need to use the pine system. Reminder: each student must do his or her own work. If our system detects that you have copied a file from another student, the matter will be referred to the Honor Committee.
Important: Some mail systems will not process the mail properly if the filename has a space in it. For this reason all students must use the following filenames for their assignments before emailing the file to lab section account.
Section A01 cs103204@mason.gmu.eduUsing Pine and ftp

These instructions will not work in the campus labs. Unfortunately, due to security problems, we can not use Netscape to send mail from the labs. You must use the instructions above to send your lab work from the campus labs.
Note: In if you can't find the Netscape program, try looking under the Start menu, then the Programs menu, then Internet Applications. Open Netscape Messenger or Netscape Communicator. In Communicator, choose the mailbox icon in the lower right hand side of the window. It is usually the third one from the right.
1) Choose the New Msg button near the top of the window. 2) Type the address for your lab section in the To: field. 3) Press enter. In the next To: field that appears, enter your email address to email yourself a backup copy. This is your proof you sent the assignment on time. Don't delete this until you have verified with your TA that you have received credit for this assignment. 4) Then click the paperclip (attach button) in the field below. Click in the space that opens and choose the file you wish to mail. 5) In the subject field, type your name and the assignment. Example: Joanna Lee A01 Word Assignment 1. 6) Then click the send button.
