  1. Important guidelines
    1. Exam dates: The mid-term exam is on 28 October, and the final exam is on 16 December, and you must attend both. There will be no alternative exam dates!
    2. Homework collaboration: All homework must be done individually by the submitting student. You may not collaborate with other students, and you may not submit the work of others (for example, from previous semesters) as your own. I take the honor code seriously!
    3. Classroom etiquette:
      1. All mobile phones must be turned off for the duration of the lecture -- no exceptions!
      2. The use of laptops is strictly limited to note-taking.
      3. Late entries and early exits should be avoided, but are permitted -- however, a student is allowed one entry and one exit (per lecture)!

  5. Announcements
    1. The address of Ms. Susan Farley, the grader is: sfarley1@gmu.edu
    2. Homework 2 has been graded. It is avialable in the CS office at the front desk; pick it up during office hours on Tuesday (9:00-5:00) or Wednesday (9:00-3:00). It will then be available in my office hours (3:00-4:00), and I will bring those that have not been picked up to the exam.
    3. Mid-term: The mid-term exam covers Chapters 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8. The following small sections may be skipped: 6.1, 6.4.1, 6.4.2, 6.4.4, 7.1.6, 7.2.3, 8.5.1, 8.6.
