NFS Protocols
- File Access Protocol:
- NFS is stateless no state information about open
files there is no NFS open file request
no support for file locking.
- there is an NFS LOOKUP operation:
before reading a file, a client issues a LOOKUP
with the complete path name. The server returns
a file handle which is used in subsequent reads.
- the READ requests must also contain the offset
in the file where to read and the number of bytes
to read.
