Bio Sketch
Ric Heishman is a faculty member in the Computer Science Department at George Mason University. He earned an A.S. in Electrical Engineering from Northern Virginia Community College in Annandale, Virginia; a B.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio; a M.S. in Information Systems from The American University in Washington, D.C.; and a Ph.D. in Information Technology from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. Research interests include: human computer interaction, computer vision and cognitive/affective state classification using eye region biometrics. Teaching areas are focused in programming and computer ethics. Prior to joining the faculty of GMU, Ric was a faculty member at the Manassas campus of Northern Virginia Community College for 10 years, serving as Assistant Dean of Computer Science and Information Technology for the last 5 years of his tenure. Before joining NVCC, he spent 20 years working in the military (U.S. Navy) and defense industry (IBM, Loral & Lockheed Martin). He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the IEEE Computer Society and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
