Managing time is one of the most
challenging aspects of developing software in industry. It is
also, of course, challenging for students in an ordinary
course.
To help you manage your time and to build time management skills, we
will be asking you to track your time spent on all aspects of the
course. Each week, you should track the number of hours spent
on:
- Each assignment you worked on for that week (separately)
- Course readings
- Learning about/training with tools
- Interacting with project clients
- Researching the project application domain
- Team meetings and interaction (chat, email)
- Programming
- Other time spent on the project (not one of the above
categories)
Other concerns/issues/comments
- In this section put anything you would like us to know, or
leave it blank
So,
each week you should submit a weekly status report (using Blackboard)
denoting the time you have spent on the course. Each category above
should be mutually exclusive so the total reflects the total amount of
time you have spent on the course for the week. In any given week you
may or may not have some of these categories, that is okay! I don't
expect you to have everything every week!
Additionally, if you have anything else you would like me to know, add
that in a comments section:

Sample Weekly Status Report: |
Weekly
Status for Karl Smith 10/21/2008
Reading Pressman ch 3 - 1 hour
Learning Open Project software - 1.5 hours
Team meeting - 1 hour
Programming project prototype - 3 hours
Other
Concerns/Issues/Comments:
I don't know why we need to use Open Project. I would prefer MS Project
or something else.
Do people really use UML?
Otherwise
this is the best course I have ever taken... can I retake it next
semester just because I like it so much? GMU should give you a
raise!
