SWE 301 Course Assignments
Fall 2022

The goals of the course are:

Correspondingly, the assignment for this course is to: Of course, each student will end up with his or her specific story, but the ingredients will be fairly common. These ingredients will primarily be contacts with the University Career Services organization and with potential employers.

To be more specific, each student will prepare a brief written report addressing the two areas identifed above. In particular, the report should identify as specifically as possible how the student expects his or her academic coursework at Mason to apply at the internship. In the other direction, the student should anticipate which experiences from the internship would likely enhance subsequent coursework at Mason. For example, a student lining up an internship in Web programming might expect that knowledge in a particular web programming technology might be useful on the job. To continue the example, that same student might expect that expertise gained in the internship might help them enhance the usability of programming projects required in subsequent Mason courses. This document will be revisited later in SWE 401 after the internship, when there will be a chance to see how these expectations fared.

Each student will also prepare a corresponding oral report and deliver it the class. These reports will be scheduled later in the semester.

Each student must post a current resume early in the semester. I encourage students to take advantage of Career Services to improve their resumes.
