INFS 612 Research Project
Objectives:
To become familiar
with one or more research domains related to computer networking, which
include, but not limited to, the following research areas:
Research Areas:
- Network/Internet applications
- Network Protocols
- Network Security
- Multimedia Networking
- Wireless/Mobile Network
- Network Management
Paper should address at least the following
areas:
- Overview of the proposed research
problem(s)
- Rationale behind the proposed research
problem(s)
- Related research works
- Your solutions to the proposed
research problem(s)
- Un-resolved research problems/future
works
Deliveries: (Due
dates are listed on the class web site)
- Project Proposal ( 1-page)
- Progress Report (project status,
1-page abstract, and a list of references, if any)
- Final Research Project Report (see the section below for details of
formatting)
- Presentation (slides and 10-15 minutes
oral presentation)
The 1-page project
proposal should address at least the following points:
- Overview of the proposed research problem(s)
- Rationale behind the proposed research
problem(s)
- Expected solutions to the proposed
research problem(s)
The project
progress report should address at least the following points:
- Project Status--whether there is a
problem to meet the project due date.
- Approaches used to resolve the
proposed research problem(s)
- Issues/difficulties, if any,
encountered during the project development
- Un-resolved issues, if any
The final project
report should contain the following sections (max 15 pages excluding the reference
pages):
- Title of research paper—up-to 9-word title
- Abstract—up-to 250-word abstract to describe
your research work
- Introduction—describe rationale behind your
research work, which can enable the reader to understand and appreciate
your objectives.
- Research problem(s)—describe your research problem(s)
- Related research works—describe what have/had been done in
research works related to your research, and what is/will be done in your
research work.
- Solutions/Analysis to the research problem(s)—detail
your solutions/analysis to the research problem(s)
- Summary (and
future works)—summarize your research work as well as future works,
if any.
- References—list reference papers
The project
presentation should present at least the following points:
- Overview of the proposed research
problem(s)
- Rationale behind the proposed research
problem(s)
- Related works
- Solution(s) to the proposed research
problem(s)
- Summery and future works
