Amarda Shehu (CS), Kylene Kehn-Hall (COS), and Estela Blaisten-Barojas (COS) win Mason 2017 Multidisciplinary Research Initiative in Modeling, Simulation, and Data Analytics Award for their project on an integrative, multi-disciplinary approach to unravel and target viral replication. The project integrates dry- and wet-laboratory research to tackle the rift valley fever virus.
Jessica Lin (CS), Liang Zhao (VSE) and Yi-Ching Lee (CHSS) win Mason 2017 Multidisciplinary Research Initiative in Modeling, Simulation, and Data Analytics Award for their project on learning interpretable driving behaviors from ADHD patients. Through real-time in-vehicle surveillance and monitoring, the project can potentially transform how we monitor patients—not only with ADHD, but also those with other medical and post-surgical conditions—and move from the current reactive health care to a preventive, proactive, and person-centric health care system
Foteini Baldimtsi (CS) and Jiasun Li (School of Business) win Mason 2017 Multidisciplinary Research Initiative in Modeling, Simulation, and Data Analytics Award for their project on analyzing the behavior of Bitcoin mining pools in the decentralized setting of cryptocurrencies. The project will revisit the trend towards centralization in an open proof-of-work blockchain by conducting both theoretical and empirical analysis of bitcoin mining pools.
