Abstract:
The cybersecurity threats that we face today are not easily summarized. We see refrigerators attacking Internet infrastructure, secrets being stolen from inside secure networks, entire networks being turned into bricks overnight, and our own browsers surreptitiously seeking out Man-in-the-Middle attacks for us without our knowledge. Yet, at the same time, the cybersecurity community is on the verge building core and advanced protections from substrates that are already operational. In this talk, I will begin by describing some of the pernicious cybersecurity threats that face us today. I will then suggest some plans for using newly operational security substrates in the Internet's core to build and evaluate the insights and security approaches that we need to secure our networks going forward.
